ASTL Equity Research Note

Amreli Steels Limited was incorporated in 1984, was listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange in December 2015, and is headquartered in Karachi. It manufactures and sells steel billets and reinforcement bars. The two plants are the SITE Karachi rolling mill (rebar capacity 180,000 tpa, suspended since September 2024) and the Dhabeji complex near Port Qasim (rebar capacity 425,000 tpa, with the 600,000 tpa billet melt shop on a 65-acre site). Power is supplied mainly by K-Electric. Customers are dealers, contractors and project developers across Pakistan, with the strongest franchise in the south. The Board has seven members, four from the Akberali family and three independent. Mr. Abbas Akberali (Chairman) is the founder; his son Mr. Shayan Akberali has served as CEO since August 2017, supported by Mr. Hadi Akberali (COO-Strategy), Mr. Fazal Ahmed (COO-Operations) and Mr. Taha Umer (CFO). The external auditor is BDO Ebrahim & Co.
